Frequently Asked Questions

A birth doula is a non-medical support professional for pregnancy, birth, and immediate postpartum. I am trained in comfort measures, coping techniques, and am here to provide you with education and awareness of your options in pregnancy and labor. While I am not a medical professional, and do not provide medical assessments or advice, I act as a dedicated companion and support person, helping you navigate your options so you can make confident, informed decisions.

While a doula fee is an upfront cost, the benefits often extend far beyond the birth room. Studies have shown that doula support results in a lower incidence of cesarean sections, premature births, and low birth weights. Mothers with doula support also report lower rates of birth-related PTSD and postpartum anxiety, alongside higher rates of breastfeeding and overall maternal satisfaction. When you consider the cost of potential complications or interventions that doula support helps reduce, many families find the investment provides both peace of mind and better outcomes.

Not every doula and client is the perfect match, and that’s okay! Each doula has a different style, personality, philosophy of birth, and unique experience that they bring to their work. I highly recommend meeting with several doulas and then deciding which is the best fit for you. Reach out to me via my website form or email, and we can schedule a free meet-and-greet where we can talk and get to know each other - most doulas will do this!
-
I am available to support any birth where a licensed medical provider (doctor or midwife) is also present, whether in a hospital, birth center, or at your home. It is my personal decision not to attend “free births”.
-
I can support births in Waco, Temple, Belton and surrounding areas. However, if you are outside this area, please reach out. I am open to traveling in certain circumstances.
Note: Brewer Diet Coaching is fully virtual and available to mothers anywhere in the world!

The Brewer Pregnancy Diet is a science-backed, nutrient-dense protocol developed by Dr. Thomas Brewer. It focuses on supporting the body’s natural physiology—specifically blood volume expansion—to reduce the risk of complications like preeclampsia. This is not a restrictive diet; it is an additive approach that prioritizes high-quality protein, salt, and calories to nourish both you and your baby. You can find a detailed breakdown of the science and history behind this protocol on my Nutrition Foundation page.
